SHOW DESCRIPTION
A Musical Celebration of Community, Spirit, and Joy. Godspell is a vibrant and deeply human musical that brings the teachings of Jesus to life through parables, playful storytelling, and a genre-blending score. The 2012 Broadway revival reimagines the beloved original with fresh orchestrations, contemporary rhythms, and an even stronger emphasis on connection and collaboration.
This ensemble-driven production invites performers who are expressive, open-hearted, and ready to work as a team. Each cast member plays a unique version of themselves, sharing in both the humor and the heart of the story. If you love character work, creative staging, and music that lifts the soul, we encourage you to audition.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Jesus (Male, 20s–40s): Charismatic, compassionate, and grounded. A teacher and guide who leads by example with a spirit of joy and service. Strong tenor with warmth and emotional depth.
John the Baptist / Judas (Male, 20s–40s): Doubles as both the passionate forerunner and the conflicted betrayer. Strong vocals and dramatic range required.
Ensemble (All genders, ages 15+): The Playhouse is seeking high-energy ensemble members who will contribute to the storytelling with their unique personality. Roles within the ensemble are built around the cast’s individual strengths and most performers will remain onstage throughout and take on various characters during parables, songs, and storytelling moments. Performers interested in auditioning must be strong and confident singers who are willing to collaborate both physically and vocally. Featured songs include “Day by Day,” “Learn Your Lessons Well,” “By My Side,” “Light of the World,” “All for the Best,” and more. Seeking performers ready to build something beautiful together.
