Are you ready to rock? The Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse is holding auditions for Andrew Lloyd Webber’s electrifying hit, School of Rock: The Musical on Sunday, May 18 at 6:30 PM and Monday, May 19 at 7:00 PM at 300 Brevard Avenue, Cocoa, FL 32922.
Based on the beloved film, School of Rock follows wannabe rock star Dewey Finn as he poses as a substitute teacher and turns a class of straight-A students into a mind-blowing rock band. This production requires a multigenerational cast of dynamic performers who can SING, ACT, and ROCK OUT to bold, character-driven storytelling.
Performance dates will be September 12th through the 28th, 2025. Auditions are being held earlier than usual to give our young performers the time they need to prepare their instrumental parts, in addition to learning their lines, vocals, and choreography. This production will also follow a unique rehearsal schedule compared to our typical timeline, with the early months focused primarily on helping Dewey and the children grow more confident with their instruments. These rehearsals will be appropriately spread out and will not require volunteer performers to attend more than necessary. Our standard rehearsal schedule will begin in earnest around July 2025.
The Playhouse is seeking young performers (ages 8–13) with strong vocal ability and stage presence. Some roles require musicianship on instruments such as electric guitar, bass, drums, and keyboard.
Adult performers should possess strong vocal technique, excellent comedic timing, and the ability to deliver grounded, truthful performances in larger-than-life roles.
Virtual submissions will also be accepted and must be received by 12:00 NOON on Monday, May 19.
More information will be available soon including how to prepare, what to expect, and instructions for virtual audition submissions.
