One of Broadway’s Greatest Musicals — A Tale of Dreams, Drive, and Family Widely regarded as the greatest American musical, Gypsy is a rich and rewarding show filled with iconic roles, unforgettable songs, and raw emotional power. At the center is Rose, the ultimate stage mother—bold, brash, and determined to turn her daughters into stars. But as vaudeville fades and burlesque rises, the spotlight begins to shift… and family ties are tested.
We’re looking for performers who can bring layered characters to life with honesty, presence, and passion. Strong singers and actors are encouraged to audition—this is a musical with depth, grit, and heart.

Audition Preparation
Vocal Audition: Please prepare a Broadway-style song, limited to 1 minute or 16 bars. Sheet music is preferred; a pianist will be provided. Accompaniment tracks on CD or flash drive are acceptable, provided they do not contain pre-recorded vocals and are limited to 1 minute. No smartphones or tablets, please. If you do not have a prepared song, you may be asked to sing "Happy Birthday" with piano accompaniment.
Movement/Dance: Auditioners will be given stage movement and/or dance to follow. Please dress comfortably with appropriate footwear.
Age Requirements: Most roles are for adults and older teens, with select roles for children ages 7+. All ethnicities are encouraged to audition.

Character Breakdown
Rose (Female, 40s–60s): The iconic stage mother. Brassy, controlling, charismatic, and vulnerable. Must have a powerhouse voice and commanding stage presence.
Louise/Gypsy Rose Lee (Female, late teens to 30s): The shy, overlooked daughter who transforms into a star. Strong actress and singer who can portray a subtle, emotional arc and deliver a confident burlesque performance.
Herbie (Male, 40s–60s): Rose’s patient and loving partner. Kind and loyal, with a quiet strength. Baritone.
June (Female, teens to 20s): The favored daughter, bright and talented with showbiz sparkle. Must sing, dance, and perform with over-the-top “cuteness.”
Baby June (Female, 7–11): A precocious, high-energy child performer. Strong dancer and singer with comic flair.
Baby Louise (Female, 7–11): Sweet, more reserved than her sister. Should have strong stage presence.
Tulsa (Male, late teens to 30s): A young dancer with charm and ambition. Must be a strong dancer.
Tessie Tura / Mazeppa / Electra (Females, 30s–60s): Three experienced burlesque performers with big personalities and comic timing. Each has a distinct “gimmick.” Must be comfortable with stylized movement.
Ensemble: Includes vaudeville performers, newsboys, stagehands, agents, strippers, and more. Various featured roles available for actors, singers, and dancers of all types.
